In 2002, she received her husband's award of Kirti Chakra, the Second Highest Peace Time gallantry award, posthumous in uniform from President Shri APJ Abdul Kalaam. Captain Shalini was also crowned ‘Classic Mrs. India – Queen of Substance’ in the year 2017.
