11 Ways To Detox Your Body This Winter

It is just as important to detox during the cold winter months as it is in summer. In fact, it might be even more crucial to your mind’s and body’s health as it is easier to get depressed in winter due to lack of sun, vitamins, and overall motivation go out, move, and exercise. In order to feel good, energized, and lose weight at the same time, you need to shift your diet a little bit, upgrading it with different warming drinks and foods that will keep you satiated without feeling heavy. You can still drink detox juices, but now it’s time to change the usual summer recipes and throw in more vitamins for an energy boost. Here are 11 ways to detox your body this winter.

Lemon water
It’s extremely important how you start your day and we’re not talking about breakfast and your favourite cup of hot sugary coffee. That will come later! Drink a glass of warm water with freshly squeezed lemon to detoxify your liver and boost the metabolism early in the morning.

All-inclusive smoothie
It’s time to get serious about your smoothies and go for a monster smoothie recipe that includes spinach, kale, half a pineapple, a handful of frozen berries mix, quarter cup of coconut milk, and a few drops of almond extract to add some natural sweetness. Needless to say this monster of a smoothie is made of superfoods and packs a serious amount of vitamins, antioxidants, fibre, and proteins – all of which you’ll be craving during cold winter months.

Upgrade your diet
In winter you should pay special attention to what you eat. Your diet should include more healthy fats like coconut oil, seeds, nuts, and avocado, as well as leafy greens like spinach and fruits that pack the most vitamins like lemons and apples.

Drink warm water
Cold water might be good in summer, but it’s actually better to always drink warm or hot water as it greatly aids your digestion. This practice was described in Ayurveda eons ago and we assure it works perfectly!

Drink hot lemon-ginger
You might have guessed by now that lemon is a real saviour in winter. Squeeze one organic lemon or lime, take a few tablespoons of fresh ginger root peeled and cut, add hot water, and then mix it with one tablespoon of natural honey. This drink tastes delicious, reduces inflammation, improves digestion, fights cold, and boosts your immune system.

Ditch the junk food
If you want to cleanse and detoxify your body, you should cut out the junk food. This means less of fast food, refined sugars, processed foods, and allergens like soy and gluten. Try to include more seasonal vegetables into your diet as well as fresh greens you can find in organic stores even during colder months.

Slow down
As days grow shorter and darker, we are naturally drawn to a slower rhythm of life. Listen to your body and don’t try to keep the same crazy pace that was good for summertime. It’s okay to stay at home a bit more without feeling guilty, cosy up with your boyfriend or spend quiet evenings with a book. Enjoy this change of rhythm and make the most of it! Your body and mind will be more relaxed and you’ll experience less stress.

Use clay face mask
Clay has the ability to suck out all the heavy metal, pollution, and basically any kind of dirt that gets trapped in your pores. All these elements are drawn to the surface of your skin and then get removed when you wash away the mask.

Try mindful eating
When it comes to food, the way we eat is just as important as what we eat. You can grab the healthiest salad in the world, but if you try eating it on the go, it still wouldn’t digest right. When you eat in a rush while your body is stressed out, no food will be good for you. So sit down, take a deep breath, feel the aroma of that lovely cup of cocoa or the smell of your hearty dish – and simply enjoy it!

Drink dandelion root tea
As fancy as it may sound, dandelion root is an amazing remedy when it comes to detoxifying your liver. And believe us when we say that removing toxins from your liver is one of the most important things if you want to look and feel healthy. This tea promotes weight loss, relieves constipation, and reduces bloating.

Laugh
Stress causes weight gain, problems with blood pressure, and bad immunity, while laughing reduces stress levels, making you feel great about yourself and life in general. Need we say more? Try to laugh as much as possible and do whatever it takes to get you giggling. Laugh every day and you’ll feel great even during winter!
